Last weekend was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. Partly because we bought a house (that's kind of a big deal), and partly because we had friends come into town to celebrate with. It's not everyday that Jeff and I put on our grown-up pants and do something sensible like buying a house. So of course, we had to celebrate the best way we know how: with good friends and good beer.
San Francisco International Beer Festival is one of the best beer events we've ever been to (this was our third year). It's well-organized and despite the thousands of people all in one place, everyone is happy and friendly. It's kind of hard not to be in a good mood when there is so much good food and beer in one place. Tickets sold out in less than an hour this year.
Jess was plotting her beer-tasting agenda on the maps provided for festival goers while we were waiting in line. There are more than a hundred brewers that come from far and wide to serve their beers at SF BeerFest. Jess just moved down to San Jose from Seattle with her fiance, Nick (Jeff's cousin).
Jeff's friend Scott also joined us at SF BeerFest. These two have been friends since their freshman year in college and Scott was in our wedding. He's also our real estate agent and helped us buy our house!
Besides the good beer and good company, there were great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from Fort Mason, where the event was held.
SF BeerFest is always fun for us, but this time it was even better because we had a good reason to celebrate. I think we convinced our friends to come back next year. I'm already looking forward to it.
